Coventry Centenary Festival, 2 – 5 May 2018

This event, part of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s visit to Coventry, is the primary focus of the diocesan celebrations in 2018.

As well as celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Diocese of Coventry, the events mark the 25th anniversary of the Archbishop Justin’s ordination as a priest.

During his four-day visit,  Archbishop Justin will be meeting civic and religious leaders, refugees, asylum seekers, farmers, school children, teachers, students, business leaders, performers in the Arts, hospital patients and staff.

Three events will be open to the general public:

·         A hog roast at Frankton on Thursday 3 May. This is an evangelistic event which starts at 6:30 pm.

·         ‘Ask the Archbishop’ is an event for people in their 20s and 30s at All Saint’s Church, Chilvers Coton (Nuneaton) on Friday 4 May. It starts at 7:30 pm and includes an opportunity for questions from the audience.

·         The main highlight of the archbishop’s visit will be a Centenary Festival at Coventry Cathedral on Saturday 5 May. The festival runs from 10:30 am – 4pm.

Creatively based around the shape of a Eucharist, the day will include songs, drama, exhibitions, worship, prayer stations, refreshments, children’s activities, messy church and much more. The organisers are ensuring that the day will appeal to adults, young people and children of all ages. You are welcome to come for the whole day, part of the day or dip in and out.

Archbishop Justin will be there all day, taking a leading role at some points, simply joining in and chatting at others.

Everyone is welcome to get involved and come along. Full details about these events are available by clicking:

Can We Help?

Volunteers are needed to act as part of the welcome team for the Hog Roast, directing people to where things are after they have parked.

Volunteers are also needed to be available for praying with people at the end of the evening, as well as those who would be able to take contact details from people who would like to have some follow up.

Please contact your Churchwarden if you would like to get involved.
