On a bright Sunday morning, we gathered outside the village club to collect harvest donations from villagers who were invited to stop by and meet the new Rector.
We carried the treasure up to church for our annual service attended by nearly 50 people, our best attendance for several years. We were delighted to welcome our new Rector, Rev Ali Massey, who was leading her first service in the benefice after installation. Joined by friends from Bourton and Frankton parishes, we sang traditional harvest hymns and heard the parable of the sower. Rev Ali was assisted by several younger parishioners as she explained the story.
The church was decorated beautifully by the members of the Birdingbury Altar Guild, and cleaned by Dick and Brian and others following the completion of the building works.
Rev Ali blessed the new loo facility and refreshments were served from the new servery which will make life a lot easier!
The offertory will go to the local branch of the Farming Community Network and around 15 carrier bags of food donations will be taken to Rugby Foodbank with our loving thoughts for others who are in need.
